Housing Audit: Assessing the Design Quality of New Homes
Date: 2004
Mæ led CABE’s national research into the design quality of our housing.
‘Housing audit: assessing the design quality of new homes’ started with a study of housing in the south and south east of England and developed into a nationwide audit of new build housing. It assessed 300 recent housing developments for quality in terms of layout, urban design and place-making and uncovered the processes that helped shape them.
CABE commissioned the audit to gauge the current state of new build housing in the UK and to assess how well house builders are placed to meet the growing housing challenge.
