Director Alex Ely will be taking part in the Housing Learning Information Network's Festival of Ideas on 'Creating Vibrant Later Living Homes and Communities' on Thursday 27th February. Chaired by Jeremy Porteus, CEO of Housing LIN, this session delves into developments geared towards providing a lifelong home and fostering a thriving community for residents. The virtual festival takes place over three days starting Monday 26th February. The Housing Learning and Improvement Network (LIN) is a sophisticated network bringing together housing, health and social care professionals in England, Wales, and Scotland to exemplify innovative housing solutions for an ageing population.

Director Alex Ely will be taking part in the seminar series “Conversations on architecture, art, culture, nature, communities, creativity and health” hosted by the University of Huddersfield on Wednesday 21st February at 4.00pm. The seminar is part of a bigger event/showcase entitled Cultures of Creative Health.

Director Alex Ely will be speaking at the Bath Preservation Trust's ‘The Resilient City’ lecture series. The talks will explore sustainable development with a focus on socially and environmentally responsible regenerative design, landscapes and architecture, and how places and placemaking can enrich society and elevate environments for the wellbeing of people. Our recently completed Harriet Hardy House is featured in a special housing issue of the Architects' Journal. Rob Wilson describes the project as 'an impressive multifunctional block with generous proportions and support facilities for older residents' that has a 'sense of hierarchy, variety and urbanity' and is 'a block that reveals itself slowly but one with a real centre of gravity, provided by the inner court'

Our recently completed Daventry House for Westminster City Council is featured in this week's issue of Building Design magazine. In the article Ben Flatman reports on how Mæ is 'helping to define a new era for those who want to live independently as they get older'. He goes on to say 'This is housing that adds dignity and joy to later-years living. The interior finishes, generous spaces and communal amenities all contribute to a secure and enriching environment. And, by turning the supported housing into a local landmark, the council is signalling the priority that it attaches to this much-needed housing type.'

Alex Ely has been invited to speak at the RIAS annual conference on Friday 10th November at the Merchants House, Glasgow. He will join the afternoon session speaking on the subject 'Leadership and Resilience', chaired by Isla Jackson Director Civic Engineers. The RIAS Conference is the single largest annual gathering for architects in Scotland and is an opportunity to bring people together to discuss how architects can use and develop their skills, and be a key part of Scotland’s future as a green, resilient and healthy nation.
