Work begins on the new Noele Gordon House site in East Ham Project Update

Work has begun on site of the former The Hartley Centre. Noele Gordon House is a 1,650 sqm community health centre with living accommodation above for elderly residents in Newham.

Working alongside a great team, the 75 ‘later living’ homes for the over-55s in two new blocks in East Ham comprise 55 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom flats, exclusively for people over 55.

Improvements to the public realm will also be started, including additional planting along Barking Road and Hartley Avenue, pavement widening along Hartley Avenue, as well as new cycle parking and benches off Barking Road.

Architecture Today - Rethinking Resi webinar Research News

A one-day webinar hosted by Architecture Today, featured Alex Ely, Director and Founder at Mæ in June. Rethinking Resi, an online forum focused on discussing the challenges and opportunities for increasing housing supply, whilst delivering better housing and places where people strive to live.

Alex led the discussion alongside the panel, exploring the challenge of delivering healthy, sustainable housing in the current climate, with a keen on eye on the future climate.

Fellow collaborators and speakers included Hawkins/Brown, Proctor & Matthews Architects, SIG, Arup Architecture and PDP London as well as many more from talented teams and schemes.

Think Tank 021 - A collaborative webinar from Kjellander Sjöberg featuring Mæ Research News

How do we establish a sense of community and belonging in the urban context...?
Hosted by Kjellander Sjöberg, an online webinar in June discussed proximity through nearness, scale and community.

The event was a huge success with architects from across the world, joining the conversion and investigating proximity on different scales such as district, urban park, neighbourhood, institution, block, workplace and home, bringing examples from Sweden and the UK.

Panel guests consisted of Finn Williams, the City Architect of Malmö, and outstanding Swedish and UK architecture practices: Mae Architects, MARELD, IF_DO, Mole Architects, We Made That and Fisher Cheng.

Agar Grove Phase 1 wins Camden Design Awards 2022 Project Update

A great result for Mæ alongside Hawkins\Brown, as Phase 1 of Agar Grove Estate wins the Camden Design Awards 2022, as announced at the Awards ceremony hosted by Camden Council in June.

The awards celebrate and reward the excellent design that is being delivered in projects across all sectors of the built environment in the Camden borough and it's a delight for the scheme to be crowned winner for this year's awards.

Agar Inside Housing

Agar Grove 1b shortlisted for the Inside Housing Development Awards 2022 Project Update

Great news for Mæ as the shortlist is announced for the Inside Housing Development Awards 2022.

Completed in 2021, Agar Grove 1b has been designed and delivered to Passivhaus standards, substantially reducing energy use and bills for existing and future residents of the borough.

The new blocks in Camden are inspired by London’s traditional buildings and streetscapes, whilst accommodating family-friendly maisonettes, split-level apartments and communal playgrounds.
