The local centre has been in decline, suffering from lack of investment and a degraded public realm. The area has been identified as one of the local Council’s growth areas. The scheme is aimed at raising the public profile of the area.

Located on an existing car-park and adjacent to a popular market, the project comprises 35 new homes, an enterprise space, and community facilities. A new square for the market will give a central focus for the Church End community and provide additional employment.

A mix of homes and flats of mixed tenure form a linear building that completes a city block, fragmented by post war road expansion. The black brick building is softened by sculptural white balustrades and the colourful market stalls.
