Grahame Park is Barnet’s largest Estate. The 1960s estate will be redeveloped to create three neighbourhoods with associated parks, play areas, shops and facilities. The design promotes family housing in low to mid-rise buildings.
We have developed a masterplan, produced as a Supplementary Planning Document. The masterplan allows for 2,160 homes of mixed tenure and mixed use provision which includes a library, an Anglican Church, Community Centre, Health Centre, Childrens' Centre plus local retail and commercial uses.
Working with residents, the local authority and housing association, we are now designing the latest phase comprising 1,078 homes planned around a traditional street pattern and the retained trees and green spaces.
We are developing a 21st century pattern book that will offer up a toolkit of house types to help design the neighbourhood, a technique used by the likes of James Gibbs in the 18th century for the great estates of central London.
